The existing relation between Big data and Internet of Things and their evolution.

Our modern society is constantly evolving, improving or innovating new products that will facilitate your life.  As consumers we have constant needs created and amplified   by marketers that showed us how our lives, comfort can be enhanced thanks to new technologies using Internet of Thing combined with Big data.

As an example, Alexa, a device implemented by Amazon, aims to help consumers on their daily basis tasks. People  are always seeking for objects that will make their life easier. Interconnected items that will improve their comfort. #Alexa can search every information for you by asking a simple question “hey Alexa followed by the question”. the product controls every devices in your home as well as you can schedule your activities and Alexa will reminds you all your daily activity.

Therefore, what is the limit of this tool? because Alexa collects all your personal information without your permission.

Therefore, what impact Big data and Internet of thing (IoT) may occur on consumers and marketers’ life?

Drawback :
In my opinion the main issue is that IoT and Big data collect information that are mainly unknown from the consumer, in order for marketers to use customer’s insights to understand customers' consumption habits and fit their future needs.

In our modern society you can’t avoid using IoT or companies to collect data on your behalf. Therefore, the other key concerns is about IoT's intrusion in customer daily life.

Advantage :
In another hand, technological advances in IoT foster sectors to improve their impact over the society or environment. To illustrate that, scientists improve people’s live — the pacemaker. Or even in another field where Big data and IoT work simultaneously to analyse and show customers insights to improve transportation's sector.  “One such example is represented by shipping organizations. They have been utilizing big data analytics and sensor data to improve efficiency, save money and lower their environmental impact.”

In the future are IoT and Big data will control  our lives (as it already influence it);

How far IoT and Big data are going to impact our day to day lives?

  1. I thing as you said the IOT is well implemented, I cant think of a day not using it honestly, even in holiday, always find a way to connect ourselves isn't it, and i don't think it will slow down. Big data are used to support businesses, gain understanding, analising behavior and trying to improve product, services, even health as you mention with the pacemaker. I think that we are way to involve, consumers way too much addicted to internet use and social media platforms, and businesses use that to create better performance, yes we don't know know how the information are used, somehow its for the good things but when you think about it, its also scary and I don't think it will stop unless the government decide to do intervene, do something to change ways things are done and give the people the privacy they deserve.

  2. In my mind I have no doubt that one day IoT will expand into basically almost aspect of our lives. With the introduction of smart home devices like Alexa and Google Home they already pave the way for integrating IoT technology into all the activities we do to make our lives easier. Almost anything that makes our lives more convenient, we want.

    The capacity to process and understand Big data in the past and even now has been limited due to the inability to process such large quantities of this data, however with advances in technology moving so rapidly, companies will be able to analyse data more efficiently and detect consumer patterns and trends with more accuracy and understanding.

    IoT devices produce a lot of data that we struggle to analyse, but in the future I believe businesses and marketers will be better able to understand consumer trends, behaviours and create more targeted advertising as they can process data more effectively.

  3. Most of our daily lives already incorporates a minimal of five ioT items. It inevitable that one day it will be heavily integrated into our routine, and our reliance on it will increase in the foreseeable future. As what Sarah has implied, it is just the matter of time where companies will discover more inventions that are able to analyse a large quantity of data. When that day comes, we will be surrounded by even more technology!

  4. I believe IoT is boosting our quality of life however is also making us much lazier! Things like this make us seek shortcuts for everything, make us lazier – especially with practical workload, people just fail to have the brain to push themselves to the limits because they’re so used to technology assisting them with a lot of things in life, also distracts us because we see things like this as a type of entertainment.
    Also along with safety/privacy – I can’t trust technology advancing further than this – things like Apple Watches, Google Home’s etc – things like this scare me, literally follows your lifestyle and takes record of it in the database, your identity is basically being written elsewhere – track what you do, where you go, where you are – basically follows all your actions and possibly all your words, it just reminds me about the movie Identity Thief.
    As much as things like Apple Watches, Google Homes, Smart Lights, etc boosts the quality of our lifestyle, it’s just putting my privacy/safety in jeopardy – one day it could cost me I strongly believe.
